-- Returning to Railtex, Rowe Hankins, the rail systems engineering company, will highlight their research and development services and showcase workshop skills for rebuilding critical systems and components. The company will demonstrate how they can extend the service life of electro-mechanical components, restoring performance to as-new levels. Experienced engineers, aided by audio visual displays illustrating successful projects, will be on hand throughout the show to give advice.
Previous projects undertaken by the company include the upgrading of OTMRS, including the installation of extended memory and software upgrades to prolong their working life and accommodate the demands of modern signalling. The company has also undertaken many mid-life rebuilds of on-train relays, contactors and circuit breakers to reinstate original performance. In addition to restored efficiency, operators have also noted substantial direct savings compared to the cost of installing and configuring new systems.
Sales director, Mike Hankins, explained, "Scrupulous engineering and detailed planning are required for these programmes. Our lead engineers have decades of experience within the with rail majors and can analyse the problem, explore alternative approaches and devise the optimal solution. We always work closely with the client to ensure that the remedial work is scheduled to minimise downtime and operational disruption. Metrolink, Heathrow Express, Transport for London, and Alstom Longsight are just a few of the operators that have benefitted from the service."
Able to handle project of any scale, from hundreds of items to be rebuilt to just a few dozen, Rowe Hankins workshops are equipped to provide a speedy and efficient service. Over the past two years the factory and workshops have had a total refurbishment to streamline operations. The company has also achieved the coveted IRIS certification, placing them in the top tier or rail support companies.
