OTTAWA, ON, April 17, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In 2014 HypeBadger, a website dedicated to providing users with notifications when their favourite products and media are be released, has begun to take the internet by storm. HypeBadger is a simple to use website where someone can create an account and follow movies, video games, music, clothing, or technology, and receive an email notification when it they are available. This simple idea has grown rapidly in the past year, and has begun to attract a larger audience.
HypeBadger was started by Milton Keynes resident Chris Horsnell. The website has been in a public beta since the summer of 2013, when Chris constructed the initial website. Since that time he brought Brad Rach, a project manager from Ottawa Ontario, on as a co-founder.
"It is really a global effort." Brad Rach said, regarding the HypeBadger product. "It takes some time to get used to the time zone difference. I'm waking up at 5AM some days to for early morning meetings, or Chris is putting his kids to bed and working late into the night so that we can keep in regular communication." Both men work full time jobs in the software industry, but work hard to keep up the efforts to making HypeBadger a success. "It's a product we really believe in. At first we were adding games and movies for release and wondering if anyone would even care, but now people are creating accounts and adding their favourite shows or even their own projects. We're very thankful for the media attention that we have been getting lately, it really shows us that people are interested and there is a demand for this."
In the 7 months that the website has been active the userbase has grown significantly. Most of the traffic that comes to the website is interested in current movies and television shows, but overtime there has been a following in the independent video game development industry. Horsnell and Rach are working towards fostering that audience and building tools for them to better promote their projects.
The HypeBadger team is currently building requirements for a major upgrade to the website and the product. It takes into account the feedback that they've been receiving in response to the current application. Future enhancements include upgrades to the site design as well as a mobile app. "Right now our biggest passion is reaching the fans." Rach stated. "The best way to do that is engaging in mobile development and push notifications, it is just the natural next step."
