HOHENWALD, TN, February 21, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- ISSC-Kanson Electronics, Inc. has engineered the sensor assembly at the heart of Extra Sensory Technologies' "Sight Globe," a device blind individuals can add to their white canes to expand their awareness of their surroundings.

A device the size of a tennis ball, the "Sight Globe" attaches to the end of a white cane. When activated, two ISSC-Kanson proximity sensors within monitor for obstacles several feet in front of the user. When an obstacle is detected, a motor vibrates to alert the user when to anticipate something in his or her path.

"ISSC-Kanson is delighted to be part of this innovative product which will be a great living aid for blind users," says Allen Filson, President of ISSC-Kanson. "We wholeheartedly support Extra Sensory Technology's mission to aid disabled people through technological means and have enjoyed applying our engineering and manufacturing capabilities to help create this living aid for blind users."

Extra Sensory Technology will provide a sneak peek of their prototype of the "Sight Globe" at the 28th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference, which takes place February 25 through March 2, 2013 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, Calif.
