    /Cambridge Who's Who/ - White Plains, NY, August 10, 2008, Jackie Ramos-Calderon, Encore Plus Director for the YWCA of White Plains & Central Westchester, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of social service.

With more than 21 years of professional experience, Ms. Ramos-Calderon's specialty is women's cancers. As the Director of the YWCA Encore Plus Program, she is responsible for community education outreach, grant writing, funding and overall program administration. In 1999 Encore Plus won the program of the year award from the Women's Equality Day Committee in Westchester County, NY. In 2003 Jackie was the recipient of the Susan. G. Komen for the Cure the BMW Local Hero Award and Sharing in Mission Award from St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, NY. In 2008 Jackie was the recipient of the Mujeres Destacadas Award from El Dario La Prensa. Ms. Ramos-Calderon has published articles on breast health addressing the environment's impact and disparities faced by women of color.

Ms. Ramos-Calderon is a former psychosocial researcher for the Sylvester Cancer Center at the University of Miami School of Medicine and a Cancer Information Specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. She considers receiving her Master's in Social Work from Fordham University with a specialization in Global Services as an opportunity to empower women worldwide. Ms. Ramos-Calderon hopes to become affiliated with the World Health Organization and address the cancer burden on a global level and would like to eventually see the end of mortality due to cancer. She feels that lack of awareness is the most important issue facing her profession today.

Ms. Ramos-Calderon received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration from St. John's University in 1987.

• Member of the Health & Wellness Coalition for the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services.
• Volunteer facilitator for Spanish speaking breast cancer patients at Gilda's Club of Westchester.
• Member of Congresswoman Nita Lowey's Hispanic Advisory Committee.
• Member and Former Chair of Yonkers Mayor Philip A. Amicone's Committee on Hispanic Affairs.
• Member of Hispanic Women Leaders of Westchester
• Member of the National Hispanic/Latina Advisory Council for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
• North East Regional Coordinator for El Dia de la Mujer Latina.
• Member of the New York State Cancer Consortium.
• US delegate to the "Ignite the Promise" Global Breast Cancer Advocate Summit, Budapest, Hungary and the Mexican Partnership Initiative for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
