Jane M. Newman Named Professional of the Year in Sales Management

    LAKE OSWEGO, OR, February 10, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jane M. Newman, National Sales Manager for LexisNexis, has been named a Worldwide Branding Professional of the Year in Sales Management. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.

Ms. Newman has 22 years of professional experience, with nine years as a national sales manager of LexisNexis. Over the years, she has become known for her ability to envision business opportunities. On a daily basis, she manages a national sales team for prisons and jails across the country. She regularly handles legal research and applications for inmates, in addition to providing leadership and sales development. Prior to joining LexisNexis, Ms. Newman worked for PriceWaterhouse for five years in late 80s in human resources. She later went to LexisNexis and progressed to the position of manager.

Ms. Newman works with the federal bureau of prisons and currently 28 state DOCs, as well as more than 1,000 county jails. "I have led a blessed career," says Ms. Newman. "I've had the opportunity to re-invent myself and learn new industries and solutions every five-to-six years within the same company. Through it all I have a supportive husband and children who have encouraged me and provided their backing along the way. Especially as we moved from Washington, DC to Oregon and my positions required 8-15 days of travel a month. I feel that being with our customers and learning industries has opened my eyes to opportunities others never saw. And within the support of LexisNexis and the leadership team, I have been allowed to pursue these opportunities and turn them into sales growth. Currently the Correction Division has had double digit growth year over year for the last six years. We have a small but strong team and partner with other people and divisions to produce top quality, customized solutions that resonate with our customers. Being able to be creative and innovative is the key to our success. I enjoy managing people and being able to see their strengths and pushing them beyond their initial goals. My passion is helping others and I feel that [the sales field] is the best avenue to pursue that passion. Creating a new division that has solid double digit growth year over year."

Looking back, Ms. Newman attributes her success to her management skills, as well as her ability to
recognize strengths in others and utilize them where they fit best. She became involved in her profession while overseeing the state government team. One of their customers was a prison. After speaking with the vice president, she was asked to create a new division of the company that focused on serving prisons and jails. As a result of this new division, Ms. Newman went on to eventually secure a contract with the Federal Bureau of Prisons for five years for more than $10 million.

Ms. Newman received a Master of Arts in human resource development from The George Washington University in 1993. She is a former member of SHRM and a current member of the National Association of Professional Women. In recognition of her hard work and dedication, she has been a four-time recipient of The Circle of Excellence Award. In years to come, Ms. Newman intends to pursue the position of vice president of sales.
