DeSoto, TX, January 14, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janice Dee Grupe, library director of Cockrell Hill Public Library, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
Ms. Grupe, a former professional singer, actress, drama instructor and director, has formerly been employed as the chief drama instructor at the Creative Arts Theatre and School in Arlington, TX, a charter school in Dallas, and at her own Backstage Theatre and School in DeSoto. Prior to her career as a drama teacher and director, Ms. Grupe was educated as a Radiologic Technologist and became the Chief Instructor in x-ray at Methodist Medical Center in Dallas. In recent years, Ms. Grupe has gained 14 years of experience working for various county libraries, in library management. At Cockrell Hill Public Library, she oversees all daily functions for the facility. This includes managing the children's collection section, handling purchasing, and writing monthly reports for the local city council and annual reports for the state. Additionally, she applies for grants and presides over budgeting.
After the death of her husband in 2001, Ms. Grupe returned to school and received a Master's degree in Organizational Management in 2004 from the University of Phoenix. She had earned a Bachelor's degree of fine arts in drama from the University of Texas at Arlington 20 years earlier. Regarding library work, she holds a Small Library Management Certificate from the State of Texas and she is also a Registered Radiologic Technologist.
As a performer, Ms. Grupe has appeared twice as a soloist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared in various roles with the Dallas Summer Musicals, and various other professional theatres in the Dallas area. She has also worked in films, TV commercials and as a model for still photography. Ms. Grupe has worked with such stars as Pat Boone, Cesar Romero, Arlene Dahl, Yvonne DeCarlo, Lorne Greene, John Pleshette and Ben Gazarra.
Before starting her professional career. Ms. Grupe was a community volunteer in many areas, including fundraising for both local and national non-profit organizations and volunteered in her church and the DeSoto public schools. Her most difficult task as a volunteer was the organizing of the DeSoto Council of Cultural Arts, a non-profit organization whose purpose was to bring top notch professional performing groups to the city of DeSoto.
