With 35 years of professional experience, Ms. Hartzell Minzey specializes in providing health information and is responsible for consulting, overseeing operations and preparing study materials for workshops. She was a director of several medical record departments and was involved in healthcare education for hospitals in Louisiana and Mississippi. She considers the establishment of quality assurance section for the American Health Information Management Association to be her greatest professional accomplishment.
Ms. Hartzell Minzey writes six to seven educational workbooks every month. A 1993 recipient of the Pioneer Award for Quality Assurance from the American Health Information Management Association, she attributes her success to her patience and tenacity. She volunteers and donates her time helping people recover after Hurricane Katrina. She stays current with the trends in her profession by enrolling in continuing education courses and by reading industry-related publications. Ms. Hartzell Minzey feels that the decline in staff and constant changes in government regulations are major issues facing her profession.
