KEMPTVILLE, ON, CANADA, February 07, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/
-- Less than two months after announcing the goal of raising $24,000 for the Kemptville District Hospital, based on a donation of $500 for each of its 48 remaining homes sold, this week Kemptville Meadows will present a first installment cheque to the hospital for $18,500. The funds will be equally split between the hospital's Mammography Campaign and the Emergency Department.
"I guess you could say we're putting our money where our sales are, and sales have been better than expected for this time of the year," notes Gilles Brisebois, president of L.A. Group and Kemptville Meadows builder. "There are builders that just build homes and then there are builders that help build communities. In our case, we have a very real commitment to supporting not just our immediate community in Kemptville Meadows, but the surrounding area as well. We are really trying to make a difference."
Kemptville Meadows project manager Fred Heller says the decision to divide their contributions between the Mammography Campaign and the Emergency Department is an ideal fit for Kemptville Meadows that in many respects reflects the demographic of the project's buyers. "We have a good mix of young families, empty nesters and single parent families... especially moms with kids, so to support such core services as emergency services and breast cancer screening makes a lot of sense. And the great thing is these are essential services not just for our residents, but a large percentage of the population."
Kemptville District Hospital Foundation spokesperson chairman Dermid O'Farrell says he's extremely pleased with the fact Kemptville Meadows is coming forward so soon, raising more than two thirds of its $24,000 commitment in a matter of weeks. "The funds raised by Kemptville Meadows will have an immediate impact on the Emergency Department, enabling us to continue to purchase critical supplies and equipment needed in order to deliver first class emergency services. And the funds that will be allocated to the Mammography Campaign will bring us one step closer to paying down the original commitment we incurred in order to build the screening facilities, so that we can continue to replace and update much equipment throughout the hospital and provide the best possible health care services for the community."
Apart from raising funds for the Mammography Campaign, moving forward Kemptville Meadows and L.A. Group plan on embarking on an awareness program to make more women in the region aware of the fact that the hospital offers breast cancer screening services for women not only in Kemptville, but also in the southern Ottawa area, also served by KDH.
