-- Kimberley Watson, Manager of Operations Engineering for Cenovus Energy, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
Ms. Watson, who has over 15 years of experience in the energy industry, has recently joined Cenovus Energy as the Manager of Operations of the Christina Lake Asset. Previous to this, she held the same role for Penn West Exploration for almost three years. The company, which is based in Calgary, Canada, is one of the nation's leading oil and gas producers. It is a company committed to applying fresh, progressive thinking to safely and responsibly unlock energy resources the world needs. Operations include oil sands projects in northern Alberta, which use specialized methods to drill and pump the oil to the surface. As well, Cenovus has established natural gas and oil production in Alberta and Saskatchewan and has a 50 percent ownership in two U.S. refineries.
In her leadership role, Ms. Watson oversees a wide range of duties, including accountability for engineering compliance, managing capital spending and managing the optimization of production and process at the central facility. She supervises a team of production, process and facility team leads and engineers.
Prior to assuming her current role with Cenovus Energy, Ms. Watson filled a number of key positions with other leading companies, including Operations Engineering Manager of the Peace River Oilsands Partnership between Penn West Exploration and the China Investment Corporation. She also served as senior production engineer for Suncor Energy and Petro-Canada. During her long career, Ms. Watson has earned a reputation for being a driven, results-oriented energy industry professional with expertise in project management and collaboration.
Ms. Watson attributes her success to her hard work. Over the next five years, she would like to transition into a vice president position.
Ms. Watson holds a bachelor's degree in Biological Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia and a Diploma in Engineering from the University of Prince Edward Island. An active member of the field, Ms. Watson has held prominent positions with several professional groups and organizations, most recently serving as a governor of the Canadian Oilmen's Executive Association. She also belongs to the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and the Canadian Heavy Oil Association. During her free time, Ms. Watson enjoys spending time with her three young girls, as well as playing both golf and squash and scrapbooking.
