/Worldwide Who's Who/ -- Krista Walker, MSW, LSW, CADC, Therapist and Owner of Healing-Solutions Therapy, was recently named a VIP member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
Ms. Walker became involved in her profession eight years ago by providing individual and group substance counseling to adult incarcerated females. She then went on to work providing case management and group counseling services to juveniles who had committed misdemeanor offenses, primarily involving substance abuse, as well as providing group and individual therapy to those with DUIs and minor drug offenses. She later expanded her services and clientele to incorporate her current practice. Providing comprehensive strength-based therapy, she offers support for individuals, couples, and families. In addition to substance abuse, she specializes in treating those facing sexual orientation and gender identity issues, as well as PTSD and emotional/anger management issues. Ms. Walker attributes her success to her past experiences combined with an unyielding passion for helping clients.
Consistently involved in community affairs, Ms. Walker maintains alliances with Aurora University, PFLAG, Gay-Straight Alliances, Youth Outlook, and other youth assistance programs. She oftentimes speaks publicly about substance abuse as well as lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgendered, and questioning issues. Additionally, she expounds her insights on themes including bullying and peer pressure, and emotional/anger mangement through public presentations.
Ms. Walker received a master of social work in 2010 from Aurora University. In 2004, she earned a bachelor of science in criminal justice and corrections from MacMurray College. She is a licensed social worker in the State of Illinois. She is also a domestic violence counselor and a certified drug and alcohol counselor. She is a member of NASW and the Naperville Exchange Club. In 2009, she was acknowledged as an Up and Coming Professional to Watch through the Naperville Sun Times.
