/Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Larry M. Walker, Artist, has been recognized by
Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of fine arts.
With more than 42 years in the visual arts profession as an art teacher/professor, art administrator and as an artist specializing in drawing and painting, Mr. Walker continues to be prolific in developing and extending his approach to painting.
Mr. Walker retired from the School of Art and Design at Georgia State University in Atlanta where he served as Director of the School from 1983 - 1995 and as Professor of Art from 1983 - 2000. He received his Master of Art degree in Drawing and Painting in 1963 and his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1958 from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He was previously on the faculty of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California where he served as a Professor and department chairman for a number of years.
Having served as an accreditation reviewer for many art programs throughout the country, Mr. Walker has curated and juried numerous art exhibits, mentored and critiqued artists of varied experiences. He is a former chairman of the National Council of Art Administrators, a former President and member of the Board of Trustees of the Hammonds House Museum and Resource Center of African American Art (Atlanta). He has served on the Board of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and he continues his membership with the College Art Association. He continues to be active in exhibiting his work in galleries, museums and art centers frequented by visual arts enthusiasts and collectors. His extensive resume of art accomplishments includes some 38 solo exhibitions, 80+ invitational and over 100-juried exhibitions.
In 2007, Mr. Walker had three solo exhibitions, received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Wayne State University and was also the recipient of a 2007-08 "Working Artists Project" grant from the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia which concluded on July 26, 2008 with a presentation of 32 new works at the museum.
Mr. Walker is represented by Mason Murer Fine Art (Atlanta), the Sande Webster Gallery (Philadelphia) and by Lusenhop Fine Art (Chicago). His work is included in numerous private, public, museum and university collections throughout the United States.
