FRANKLIN, NC, December 11, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tamera Nielsen, local Certified Chair Yoga Teacher at Feel Well Yoga is conducting six Chair Yoga Classes during the week of December 16th at UUFF to raise awareness and funds for KIDS Place of Franklin. KIDS Place is a private, non-profit agency that provides a home-like environment where trained professionals interview children about reports of abuse, perform medical exams, and provide counseling. KIDS Place will receive 100% of all proceeds and donations collected for each of the six classes.---
Certified Chair Yoga Teacher, Nielsen, who will be conducting all six classes this month is also an Author of books on encouragement, a Wellness Workshop leader, and a survivor of childhood abuse.
"It is my privilege to raise awareness and funds to help KIDS Place continue their laudable mission for the children of Macon County," says Nielsen who in her third book, Perspectives: Views on Life, writes, "Through the eyes of a child, we see innocence, wonder, abandon. Children, when properly-nurtured, show us the ultimate definitions of purity, simplicity, and unconditional love. They serve as beacons to show us all that matters."
These Chair Yoga Classes are designed for anyone who is more comfortable exercising off the floor rather than on it, and is especially helpful to those living with chronic pain/disease, arthritis, joint challenges, as well as stroke survivors and individuals using Assisted Walking Devices (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, prosthetics).
In these 30-minute uplifting, nurturing, empathetic classes, participants are guided through exercises, poses, and breathing techniques that can be used anywhere, anytime to promote overall wellness. Additional benefits include: mind/body integration, improved balance, circulation, posture, strength, flexibility, mental focus; reduced stress, pain, fatigue; increased muscle strength, mental acuity, coordination, and energy level, and an overall sense of mind/body empowerment.
Nielsen is intimately familiar with abuse, physical limitations, chronic illness, and debilitation. She uses this knowledge in her classes to help others feel well despite any challenge - physical or emotional.
"We may be victimized by life's challenges, but behaving like a victim is a choice," Nielsen says, "We can make life's challenges and traumas better by the choices we make and the attitudes we take. For anyone who wants to transform challenges into empowerment, this class is for them."
Nielsen will teach six 30-minute classes at UUFF Monday-Wednesday, December 16, 17, and 18th at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. each day. Participants may come to as many 30-minute classes as they choose for a suggested donation of $5/class.
