LucaSunscreen.com Discusses Safe Options for Promoting Eyelash Growth
Products which promote the growth of eyelashes can result in changing eye colors - fortunately there are safe options.

WANDO, SC, January 29, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Eyelash growth products have become very popular, and offer attractive results, but most consumers are not aware of the vastly different side effects that can result from various active ingredients. While some newer products have no side effects, there are hormone and prostaglandin analog containing formulations that can permanently change eye color (iris discoloration) and turn eyelids darker. Fortunately, it is possible to avoid the side effects of eyelash growth products and select safe options.

Option 1 (Good)
Latisse is the only product on the market that is dispensed under prescription where a physician can inform the patient about potential side effects and risks. Although the active ingredient is a hormone analog that can have side effects such as iris discoloration and eyelid discoloration, this is actually quite rare; Bimatoprost was originally used as drug to treat glaucoma so it is backed up by extensive FDA drug safety studies. It is a popular, safe, and effective product.

Option 2 (Poor)
The success of Latisse sparked a number of spinoffs that use prostaglandin and prostaglandin analogs that are very similar to Bimatoprost. The problem is that they have the side effect profile of Bimatoprost without the benefit of FDA drug studies. In fact, the FDA has openly questioned whether these prostaglandin analogs may cause changes in intraocular pressure or poses a risk during pregnancy and has sent warning letters to some manufacturers of these products.

Option 3 (Best)
There is now a family of lash growth products that use a lipoprotein active as opposed to hormones and prostaglandin analogs as their active ingredient. These have no side effects, and there is no risk of iris or eyelid discoloration. Consumers should look for the new active ingredient Myristoyl 17 pentapeptide (there are other variants of myristoyl that are equally effective, the important thing is to look for myristoyl) on the active ingredient list. LUCA Lash, Prior, Jan Marini, and Obagi Elastilash are but a few of this next generation of lash growth product that have no side effects.

Taking the time to look at the ingredients may save your eye color.
