Committee investigates the character and fitness of candidates for admission to the State Bar
SOUTHFIELD, MI, December 21, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lavinia S. Biasell, a shareholder at Maddin, Hauser, Wartell, Roth & Heller P.C., a Southfield, Michigan-based law firm, has been appointed to serve on the State Bar of Michigan District I Character and Fitness Committee. Her two-year renewable term begins January 1, 2014.
The Committee investigates the character and fitness of candidates for admission to the State Bar.
Biasell concentrates her practice in the areas of title insurance coverage and commercial and real estate litigation. She received her bachelor's degree, with high honors, from Michigan State University's James Madison College, and her Juris Doctor, manga cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law. While there, she was a member of the American Inns of Court and earned the Carolyn Stell Award from the Women Lawyers Association of Mid-Michigan for outstanding achievements and public service. Biasell is admitted to the Federal District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.
In addition to this new appointment, the Rochester Hills resident, who was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2012 and 2013, is a member of the Michigan, Oakland County and American Bar Associations, as well as Michigan State University - Detroit College of Law Alumni Association.
Biasell serves on the board of Life Remodeled, which is a nonprofit organization that builds homes for underprivileged families, and is the co-chair of the Bench Bar Culinary Challenge Community, which organizes an annual summer event to raise money for local women's and children's charities.
