Prior to her current profession, Ms. Martin worked as a teacher for emotionally disturbed children. She became involved in her current profession because she was always interested in promoting well-being in individuals and families, and attributes her success to her educational skills.

Ms. Martin, a licensed professional counselor examiners board, earned her Master's Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Saint Thomas Theological Seminary in 1983, a Master's Degree with concentration in childhood emotional disturbance from the University of Connecticut in 1971, and her Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Michigan in 1967. She completed certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Ms. Martin is affiliated with the American Association for Pastoral Counselors and the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Network. In the future, she hopes to become more involved in writing and publishing books.
