REDFIELD, SD, June 11, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Duane August Sanger, Mayor of Redfield South Dakota, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of municipal government.

Known for his participation in community projects, Mayor Sanger was elected to his present position in 1975 and has held it since. He is recognized as an authority on community project management and consultation. His responsibilities include attending City Council meetings, managing several committees, overseeing the maintenance of public utilities, implementing social service projects and parks and recreation programs, creating job placement, and coordinating with the state municipal board on the finance and taxation committee. Prior to entering government service, Mayor Sanger served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He attributes his longevity to his ability to see the needs of his constituents and readiness to collaborate with others to fulfill these needs.

An active member of the South Dakota Municipal League, Mayor Sanger served the organization as president from 1997 to 1998 and held numerous other posts. He is also affiliated with his local Chamber of Commerce and the Northeast Council of Governments. In his spare time, he volunteers with Lions Clubs International.
