/24-7PressRelease/ - FT. LAUDERDALE, FL, May 18, 2008 - MediNotes Corporation, a market leader in electronic health records (EHRs) with more than 23,000 users nationwide, will unveil its new award-nominated supply chain management (SCM) software, MediNotes Clinician SCM (referred to as ¡§SideWinder¡¨ in TEPR literature), on Sunday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. E.S.T. at the Towards the Electronic Patient Record (TEPR) Awards finalists presentations. MediNotes Clinician SCM is being considered for the award among six other ¡§Hot Product¡¨ nominees. The winner will be announced at the TEPR Opening Session on Monday afternoon, May 19.

According to MediNotes CEO and President, Donald Schoen, ¡§We are dedicated to providing innovative, high quality services and products to the market, and this TEPR award nomination validates our efforts. The new module provides up-to-the-minute inventory information via a real-time dashboard, improves contract compliance and reduces write-offs for physicians, and significantly reduces billing errors and operating expenses through automated inventory management. We expect MediNotes SCM to deliver real value to our customers.¡¨

Jack Callahan, MediNotes vice president of corporate development, will discuss future trends in healthcare information technology (HIT) during TEPR¡¦s session entitled ¡§The Next Generation of Medical Technology¡¨ (Tuesday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m. E.S.T.). MediNotes e users, John Cauthon, D.P.M., John R. Scibal, O.D. and Ric Smith will participate in the session to offer their unique perspectives on EHR implementation. Dr. Cauthon is the owner of Foot and Ankle Clinics of Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tenn., Dr. Scibal is the founder of Carteret Vision Center in Morehead City, N.C. and Smith is the director of operations at New York Heart Center in Syracuse.

Callahan¡¦s presentation focuses on the future of HIT in the ambulatory setting. He will outline current concerns surrounding perceived EHR security vulnerability, the political issues and national initiatives that might impact the HIT environment, and the need for physicians to embrace technology and encourage its adoption.

¡§To manage the dynamic healthcare environment, ambulatory practices must select an EHR system that supports their existing workflow and evolves to accommodate change as their businesses grow,¡¨ explains Callahan. ¡§MediNotes¡¦ systems help physicians achieve and maintain practice optimization through an integrated solution that goes beyond compliance and manages the entire patient encounter from appointment scheduling through documentation to referrals and billing.¡¨

Independent practitioners, Dr. Cauthon and Dr. Scibal, will share their respective experiences using the MediNotes e EHR and how they have successfully overcome traditional setbacks associated with transitioning to a paperless practice.

In addition to MediNotes e, a best-of-breed interoperable EHR, the company offers MediNotes Clinician, an award-winning .Net-based EHR and practice management (PM) solution. MediNotes will showcase its product offerings at TEPR during exhibition hours.
