"Libraries and librarians are still needed in this 21st century technological world," says Ms. Freese an associate professor of library services for Hofstra University's Joan and Donald E. For the past 28 years, Ms. Freese has served Hofstra University, applying her skills in children's literature and education material classification to her position as associate professor of library services. In her current stint, she catalogues a variety of materials for the curriculum materials center and consults on the management of CMC materials. A decade after completing her first degree, she graduated from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University with a Master of Library Science. She has presented numerous training workshops on various aspects of cataloging and classification to faculty and staff in both technical and public services. She also reviews materials for "Libraries Alive," a publication of the National Church Library Association.

A certified public librarian since 1977 and certified teacher in the state of New York, Ms. Freese has authored a chapter titled "Smart Barcodes and Inventory Analysis," which appeared in the ninth volume of Library and Archival Security in 1989 and in the 66th volume of PNLA Quarterly. The highlight of her 40-year career was establishing a library for the residents of the Wayside Home School for Girls in 1993. One year later, she was named Woman of the Year by the Business and Professional Women of Nassau County, Inc.
