HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA, May 28, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael E. Rangel, MPA, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, loyalty, tenacity, leadership and excellence in the security sector and law enforcement operations.

With over 40 years of professional experience Mr. Rangel consults and conducts training seminars and certifications for security companies who employ security and law enforcement officers. Mr. Rangel (although dealing with a busy schedule) finds the time to work on an on-call basis as an executive protection agent and trainer.

In 1964 prior to his graduation from Garfield High School, he was awarded a Congressional Nomination to West Point Military Academy by the Honorable Congressman Chet Hollisfield. Mr. Rangel served in the military during the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged in 1967. Mr. Rangel then attended ELA College and prepared himself for a career in law enforcement with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Mr. Rangel was sworn in as a member of the LAPD in 1969. During his career with the LAPD he was able to accomplish and complete his master's degree in public administration at Pepperdine University in the class of 1975. Through his expertise he was assigned to the office of operation's tactical and and planning section. While working in this section Mr. Rangel was a training instructor with other cadre officers in emergency responses to major and minor disasters. He also fulfilled the role of the City of Los Angeles' radiological and hazardous materials officer. He was even able to work alongside other officers at the 1984 Winter Olympics. In 1986 Mr. Rangel was promoted to the rank of Sergeant of Police and held numerous positions from gang and narcotic supervisor and coordinator of the internal affairs division. He retired from the LAPD as an assistant watch commander in 1993.

In 1986 Mr. Rangel was recognized by the State of California and the National Rifle Association as a certified trainer and instructor for both security and law enforcement officers. Prior to his retirement from the LAPD, he was awarded over 40 honors and citations for exemplary service. After his retirement from the LAPD Mr. Rangel entered into the private sector and held numerous positions from training instructor to executive positions in various companies.

In 1996 Mr. Rangel applied and interviewed (along with other high level officials) for the position of director of security at The El Dorado Ranch Resort , located in San Fellipe, Mexico. His high qualifications and ability to speak Spanish fluently gave him the edge to attain the position and develop and implement the first security force at a resort in Mexico. Mr. Rangel achieved success at this position and was praised by both American and Mexican officials for his ability, tenacity, dedication and perseverance in getting the job done. Unfortunately Mr. Rangel had to leave the resort because of an ill family member back in the United States. However, he left a permanent mark in that community and the program he implemented there still continues to this day.

Upon his return to the United States, Mr. Rangel began working in the private sector within the field of security, holding several executive positions at security companies. In 2002, he developed an idea for a bulletproof armored van, with a fiberglass top, high tech locking system, 360 degree capable video cameras, and an implemented global positioning system onboard. His idea was well received by FedEx and was implemented for use with high valued products transportation, such as jewlery pick up and delivery.

Mr. Rangel once again resigned from an executive position in the private sector to pursue another of his dreams to be an instructor and trainer with the State of California. He currently works as an executive protection agent and trainer.

Mr. Rangel is a member of the Los Angeles Police Relief and Protective League Association, the National Rifle Association, the American Society for Industrial Security and International Services and the International Security Management Association for Healthcare and Security Safety.

Mr. Rangel was inspired to pursue his career goals by his father, Miguel Rangel, who was a career solider and is a department of water and power retiree He attributes his success to his determination, tenacity, perseverance and people management skills. He intends to pursue and attain yet another executive position and continue building his career.
