NAMBOUR, AUSTRALIA, August 22, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sunshine Coast locals know Nambour as the sleepy little town over the hill so it may come as a surprise to find out the old heart of the cane growing industry is getting its groove back.---
Creative and design businesses are popping up all over Nambour and choosing the town as their place of residence.
Creative Director at design agency POMO Stephen Burton said the trend in businesses looking to Nambour was due to its location and charm.
Mr Burton and his partner Lisa Harrison moved to Rosemount five years ago from a busy metropolitan life in Brisbane and they're thankful for the change of pace.
"We moved here five years ago and saw the location for its potential as a creative hub like the hinterland at the back of Byron Bay," Mr Burton said.
"When we first got here we loved the bushland, the wildlife and the old growth trees but could not believe it didn't have the activity that Bangalow enjoys."
"The Nambour Creative Alliance is a step in the right direction to bringing out the creative energy Nambour has the potential to be known for."
And the slew of other creative and design businesses heeding the call of Nambour's old world charm include The Time Machine, BackBeat Records, The Old Ambulance Station and art gallery as well as 11pm recording studio, to name a few.
"There is strong community spirit here in Nambour and it's obvious there's a thirst for innovation in creative ventures," Mrs Harrison POMO's Digital Director said.
"We can go to town in Nambour on a Saturday morning and see local art on display in the gallery, peruse vintage and retro fashions, be inspired by local artisans, pick up a few vinyl gems and enjoy a well made coffee without leaving the CBD," she said.
Mr Burton and Mrs Harrison have found the move so fortuitous they're currently building a state-of-the-art creative work studio for them and their staff at POMO to make use of the hinterland location and views. It is anticipated that the space will be completed late September.

"Living and working in Nambour certainly helps the creative process because of its peace, tranquility and proximity to not only the coastline but to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne which are just a short plane trip away thanks to Maroochy airport," Mrs Harrison said.
