/24-7PressRelease/ -- The NBL Freedom Nationals, held at NOVA BMX in Woodbridge, Virginia, May 8-9, drew one of the largest crowds for any National race this year. According to outside estimates, the race attracted over 1000 racers and fans to take part in some exciting East Coast racing. The fifth race of the season for the NBL's Elite Series, the Freedom Nationals, featured more than 500 fast Pros and top amateur riders from across the country on a newly rebuilt, lightning fast track.
The Saturday evening Pro Spectacular began with some great tunes from area band, So Far Gone. Fun contests and exciting giveaways for fans included more than $2000 in prizes, including a Hyper dR replica BMX bike won by 14-year-old, Cody Lynn from Hagerstown, Maryland.
Pros from around America, as well as Colombia and Brazil, converged for a hugely successful autograph signing, and then the real action began at 5pm! East Coast favorite, GT/SC Action Sports' Phil Delizia fended off Intense's Danny Caluag for the big Elite Men main event win. In Elite Women competition, reigning NBL National champion, Dominique Daniels powered her way past a mix of top veterans and up-and-coming young ladies to take the top podium spot. ECP's Matt Beatty and GT/SC Action Sports' Joey Albright left no doubt during their wins in Super-Ex and Masters, respectively.
The racing is Woodbridge was super aggressive, showing that riders are becoming more serious about chasing the National titles as the season moves forward.
