ROCHESTER, MN, January 24, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Three long standing and respected business owners with individual transportation companies have announced the formation of an alliance that will bring together all of their services under the name Best Ride, Inc. The organization is a direct response to the growing transportation needs in Rochester and Minnesota's Destination Medical Center (DMC) initiative.
Best Ride began with discussions in early 2013 with owners, Steve Elwood, Kurt Marquardt, Dean Wickstrom and Andy Chafoulias having a collective goal to offer seamless and integrated transportation for airport and hotel shuttle, taxis, medical and children transportation in the city of Rochester. Best Ride includes six companies; Yellow Cab, R&S Transport, Go Rochester Direct, Go Carefree Shuttle, Kids on the Go and Best Ride Black Car.
Transporting a combined effort of nearly three quarters of a million people every year, Best Ride will be considered one of Minnesota's largest ground transportation companies with over 200 employees and a growing fleet of 150 vehicles ranging from specialized medical vans and taxicabs to Lincoln Town Cars, Cadillac DTS and Mercedes Sedans.
Best Ride's headquarters is located near the Rochester International Airport in a 20,000 square foot state-of-the-art building featuring a central Customer Care Center, equipped with a digital call center, and cloud-based taxi dispatch system. The new dispatch system allows customers the ability to order a cab from their smart phone, or directly from the company website. The system is GPS controlled and allows Customer Care Agents to manage the location of drivers, their speed of travel, and driver availability.
"An important focus for Best Ride will be eco-efficient operations," said John Beltz, Vice President of Yellow Cab. "We strive for sustainability and environmentally friendly practices with the goal of offering transportation options that are gentle on the environment and help promote healthier living for people traveling in and around the community."
An example of this philosophy in action will be an unveiling to the community of twenty-five, 2014 eco-friendly Toyota Prius Hybrid taxicabs on January 21. This will be the first time a new taxicab fleet has been launched in Rochester since the early 1930's.
Approximately 70 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul, Rochester has a current population of 108,000 residents with a projected growth of 145,000-150,000 by the year 2030. Rochester is also a regional employment center with a current employment base of 105,000 jobs and approximately 51,500 workers commute into the city with an estimated 35,000 commuting downtown.
"As Rochester continues to evolve as a Destination Medical Center it's important that we plan and invest in growth. We are excited and ready to grow in partnership with the city of Rochester and the needs of DMC," said Beltz.
