CORK, IRELAND November 18, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The local garden centre has just got nearer. http://gardeningonline.ie will be just like the local garden centre because it will deliver to the door throughout Ireland. The launch of the new website will bring information, help, advice, forums, blogs within easy reach. It will also provide the plants and gardening products. These can all be purchased in the fully secure e-commerce store. The site has been launched by TV personality Peter Dowdall. He aims to bring variety and value - with easy choices and options - to the online garden scene. He has carefully selected collections of plants to suit every location and climate and this will give every gardener - amateur or professional - a head start in evolving a perfect design for their garden. The site promises a totally new experience in gardening. Ireland-wide delivery is provided.

Peter Dowdall has over 20 years experience in gardening in Ireland and abroad. He's a regular on television, radio and in print throughout Ireland and the UK and his first book will be published in the Spring of 2010. He has personally put together the plant collections in the gardening store as a guide to help gardeners choose their perfect plants. Every part of this online garden centre is designed to be easy to use for the gardener and non- gardener alike. The plant collections are organised in themes to make is easier to select the right ones. That means that Peter's extensive expertise is available throughout the collections pages - no need to search for long Latin names. Just find a collection type on the site that suits and see what's available. The plants in the collections are being constantly updated as they come in and out of season.

This online garden centre also has a blog so that keen gardeners can keep an eye on what Peter's up to in the garden. They can also find out what's new in the world of gardening. Ireland is beginning to go gardening mad with everybody catching the bug and there is a forum for people to exchange ideas and queries. Peter will be online once a week to answer any questions that haven't been already answered in the forum. Visitors will even have the option of asking an expert for help on gardening topics.

The idea behind the online garden centre is simplicity, Peter explains why he has broken it into two sections: "In the first section visitors can search the site by plant type or 'collections'. I have classified plants into collections that relate to where they like to grow or what season they are of interest. That means that the answer is provided before the question. You don't need to know which plant you're looking for or anything about gardening. Just search for a theme or 'collection' that suits and then pick your plants."

The second section can be used to search for individual plants - Peter explains again: "This has a 'Find Your Perfect Plant' search or you can use the 'advanced search' tool to search for a fruit or a hedge or anything else that's available. Alternatively you can search for a plant with a particular colour in a particular month."

By providing an online garden centre with these tools Peter hopes to take the mystery out of gardening. Ireland is a small country so customers will have the option of collecting from Peter's physical garden centre in Cork - the Dunsland garden centre - or they can have the plants delivered wherever they are in Ireland. This makes gardeningonline the closest and most convenient garden centre for everyone.

http://GardeningOnline.ie is owned and run by Peter Dowdall of Dunsland Garden Centre. Peter has a lifelong passion for plants and sources the plants for gardeningonline.ie from all over the world with a particular emphasis on sourcing top quality Irish plants where possible. He has over 20 years experience in gardening in Ireland and Dunsland Garden Centre has been operating for the last 12 years. He is a regular on television gardening programmes in both Ireland and the UK and on radio and print media in Ireland. His first book will be published in the Spring of 2010.
