"One of our most successful operations was delivering Christmas flowers to the friends and families of a large mining company in Western Australia" said Samantha Hammond, Operations Manager of Petals Network. The people in mining communities are often worlds apart from their loved ones. This is even harder when they're apart at Christmas. "We delivered 242 flower arrangements on behalf of the employees. Employees could personalise the message for a girlfriend, grandparent or mother for example." Samantha added. Employees that couldn't be with their families were able to send a little Christmas cheer because of Petals. "The flower deliveries weren't just limited to Australia but we delivered flowers to Europe, New Zealand, Thailand, Egypt and South Africa" Samantha continued to say.
Petals has delivery networks in over 70 countries and has over 1000 florists Australia wide. "By and large we can deliver to any population centre" said Scott Williams, CEO of Petals Network. Many small towns don't have a florist so there are added costs in sending flowers. In the past these extra delivery fees have been high. Sending flowers to rural areas was often too costly for customers.
Petals has devised a delivery system that takes the pain out of sending flowers. Petals sets a standard delivery fee and there are no extra costs to customers. When there are extra delivery fees Petals will absorb them. "This also helps our florists with their accounting. It makes it just a little easier for them" Scott added. The main exception to this is mining camps but Petals still goes out of their way to ensure flowers can reach them.
To ensure flowers are delivered to that special someone a network needs to cover the whole country. Petals Network does just that while giving value to the customer. From the looks of things Petals is certainly going the distance.
