/24-7PressRelease/ - Justin, TX, May 25, 2008, Nuria T. Prendes-Putnam, Field Office Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the Department of Homeland Security, will be included as a lifetime member in the 2008-2009 edition of the Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry for excellence in government service.
A 24-year veteran of immigration and customs enforcement, Ms. Prendes-Putnam assumed her current position five years ago, after honing her skills as a border patrol agent, a deportation officer, an assistant district director for detention and removal, and a deputy assistant director for compliance enforcement. She considers her promotion to field office director to be the highlight of her career so far, and uses her expertise to oversee the investigation, apprehension, detention and removal of alien criminals from the United States, manage multi-million-dollar budgets, supervise 200 law enforcement officers, and coordinate operations with federal agencies. Ms. Prendes-Putnam is proud to be the driving force behind an office that grew by 129 percent in the past year, an office that leads the nation in many national programs—her office ranks first in Fugitive Operations, third in the Criminal Alien Program and fifth in the Prosecution Program. She aspires to venture further into the field of law enforcement, and considers removing criminal aliens and keeping communities safe to be the most gratifying aspect of her work. Upon her retirement from government service, Ms. Prendes-Putnam plans to pursue her Ph.D., spend more time with her family and share her knowledge of immigration as a consultant.
Ms. Prendes-Putnam earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Texas State University in 1983. She is affiliated with the American Correctional Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Women in Federal Law Enforcement, and the Kappa Delta Alumni Association, and names the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center as her favorite charity. She has been honored with a number of awards, including a citation by Texas Congressman Pete Sessions for her contributions to Operation Community Shield, as well as several special achievement awards. An authority on immigration law enforcement, and detention and removal operations, Ms. Prendes-Putnam may be reached at [email protected].
