Oklahoma City Podiatrist Treats Chronic Heel Pain With Shockwave Therapy

Dr. Darren Elenburg is happy to be using Extra Corporeal Pulse Activation Treatment (EPAT), a noninvasive procedure to treat his patients with chronic heel pain.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, April 10, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Darren Elenburg, podiatrist in Oklahoma City, is proud to be offering a noninvasive way to treat his patient's chronic heel pain with shockwave therapy in Oklahoma City. Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Treatment (EPAT), sometimes also called, Shock Wave Therapy or ESWT is a safe and effective way to treat heel pain.

"We are glad that we can provide this sort of technology to our patients. We are always looking for new and effective ways for treating common foot injuries. This is for people who have tried other methods for treating heel pain but continue to have pain. This method is 80% effective, even on the 5 year studies. They have a very good chance to get rid of their heel pain" said Dr. Elenburg, Oklahoma City podiatrist.

EPAT is mostly for patients who have suffered from plantar fasciitis for six months or more and have not found relief from any other conventional treatments. Plantar fasciitis occurs when the plantar fascia ligament that is located in the heel is strained. This shockwave therapy procedure lasts about 10 minutes while shock waves are directed at the heel area. This stimulates the body's natural healing process. ESWT requires a short recovery time and shows an 80% success rate for treatment of plantar fasciitis.
