BARRIE, ON, October 26, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/
-- Cameron Pepper, an 8-year old Orillia resident has decided to join the "Armour Lip Charmours" Movember team throughout November 2012 in an effort to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research.
The Movember campaign is an annual event where men across the world grow moustaches while raising funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer. Originally started in Melbourne, Australia, Movember has 'grown' to epic proportions. In 2011, over 854,000 men around the world participated, raising $125.7 million CAD.
Although not yet able to grow a moustache of his own, Pepper will be wearing different 'stick-on' moustaches throughout the month of November.
"I don't care if people laugh at me", states Pepper. "I want to help people that have prostate cancer and help my Grandpa Doug that had prostate cancer".
Chris Holmes is the President of Armour Technology Solutions, a local Information Technology company in Barrie, Ontario that sponsors the "Armour Lip Charmours" and is also a member of the Movember team.
"The fact that an 8-year old wants to participate and help such a great cause is an inspiration to us all", states Holmes. "Only through involvement can we truly make a difference. Making a difference is what it is all about".
The "Armour Lip Charmours" raised over $3600 in 2011 and hope to increase that amount in 2012. With the help of a determined 8-year-old boy, they hope to achieve their goal. The team will be holding a 'Kick Off to Movember' event at the Armour offices in Barrie on November 1st, 2012 at 10:00am. Members of the press are welcome.
