OZARK, MO, March 20, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. David Struble, cosmetic dentist in Ozark, is happy to be offering Laser Periodontal Therapy for his patients. This type of therapy is an alternative to the conventional gum surgery involving a scalpel and sutures.

"I am very glad that our practice is able to utilize this technology for our patients. Conventional gum surgery involves cutting gums and resealing them. This laser allows us to take care of gum disease damage using a minimally invasive laser. I hope our patients explore this technology as an option for treating periodontitis," said Dr. Struble, Ozark, MO dentist.

50% of 100 million Americans have periodontal disease. This happens when a gum infection called gingivitis is left untreated. Gingivitis is a condition caused by bacteria in the gums and causes red, swollen gums that bleed when teeth are brushed. If gingivitis goes untreated it progresses into a more serious condition called periodontitis. This causes pockets to be formed in the gums, separating the teeth from the gums and the supporting bone structure. If periodontitis goes untreated the result is tooth loss. Before Laser Periodontal Therapy, the only option was an uncomfortable surgery involving the cutting of the gums. The laser provides a non-invasive way of treating periodontitis.
