HOUSTON, TX, July 23, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pearland Theatre Guild is premiering TARZAN the Stage Musical at the Pearl Theater, August 16 through September 8, 2013. Written by Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang, TARZAN is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan of the Apes and the 1999 Disney animated film.
Making its southeast Texas premier, TARZAN is being directed by Nathan C. Hand who directed the immensely popular 9 to 5 the Musical at the Pearl Theater last season. With exciting music by pop icon Phil Collins, including Grammy and Oscar winning song, "You'll Be in My Heart", and musical direction by Heather Tipsword, TARZAN will please audiences of all ages. The cast includes both children and adults and features talented vocal artists, actors and dancers from Pearland, Houston, Missouri City, Friendswood and other area communities.
TARZAN tells the story of an infant boy orphaned on the shores of west Africa who is raised by a tribe of gorillas. The young boy strives for acceptance by his ape father while grappling with his uniqueness. When a human expedition arrives, Tarzan -now a man- encounters strangers like himself for the first time.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 8:00 p.m. Buy One Get One Free night is Thursday, Aug 22 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday Matinees are Aug 25, Sept 1, and Sept 8 at 3:00 pm.
