/24-7PressRelease/ -- The Philadelphia Science Fiction Society is having their 73rd anniversary of the first Science Fiction convention. The Philadelphia Conference on Science Fiction and Fantasy opens on Friday, November 20, 2009 and ends on November 22, 2009 at the Cherry Hill Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cherry Hill, NJ.
The principal speaker for this year's PhilCon is nebula award winner Catherine Asaro. The guests include science fiction novelist, blogger and technology activist, Cory Doctorow, artist guest of honor and three time Hugo Award winner, Frank Wu. African American author of the Vampire Huntress series, L.A Banks is slated as the special guest author. And African American blogger and science fiction author of the 2012 novel, Escape 2 Earth, Lawrence Johnson Sr. will also be in attendance for the event's panels.
PhilCon is held annually and showcases a variety of guests of science fiction and fantasy as well as literary, art, science, costuming, anime and gaming world.
While growing up in South Philadelphia, from Doctor Who to Star Trek Lawrence has always been drawn to the world of science fiction. November 2009 is the release date for the long awaited sequel to his science fiction novel Escape 2 Earth 2012 entitled Return 2 Earth.
