MEDIA, PA September 27, 2008
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Television viewers saddled up for the first season of the Toughest Cowboy, a TV series that aired on Fox Sports Net and combined reality TV with a rodeo competition. Allied Pixel, an integrated media production company located in Media, Pa., provided post production services for the program. The show captured twelve cowboys traveling all over the United States to compete and win the title of Toughest Cowboy. The series struck a cord with television viewers and will be back for another season in 2009. The show will continue to air on Fox Sports Net on Sundays at 9pm (EST).
Now in its 2nd groundbreaking season, Toughest Cowboy is an exciting and revolutionary brand of rodeo designed as a live touring event that also brings the emotion, competition and toughness to television as a weekly series. Toughest Cowboy is not only popular with traditional rodeo fans, but has expanded the fan base to sports and entertainment fans alike. The Toughest Cowboy competition is an unprecedented test of endurance requiring cowboys to ride the three most physically demanding rodeo disciplines (bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding) in head-to-head competition carried out all in one night. At the conclusion of each event a winner is declared, with all of the participants additionally vying for the title of Toughest Cowboy Champion named at the end of the season.
"This project was fun and challenging at the same time," said Brian Connor, President of Video Production of Allied Pixel. "The entire team is excited to make the next season even bigger and better."
Similar to the reality show contestants, the Allied Pixel crew had challenges of their own to face. They needed to be able to duel edit and have a fast turnaround on all footage. Since the rodeo competitions were shot with multiple cameras in many different formats, Allied Pixel utilized two edit suites simultaneously to handle all of the footage. In addition, the reality show footage arrived every Sunday and the finished show clips needed to be shipped for broadcast by Friday of the same week. Besides the hour program, they produced commercial bumpers, teasers and a variety of other packages for the show.
"Technically, creatively and personally, Allied Pixel continually exceeded all of my expectations," says Jason Jacquette, producer of the Toughest Cowboy, "They are a top notch production facility with extremely fast-turnaround and are my first call whenever I have a new project that requires post production."
According to a recent press release, due to the success of the first Toughest Cowboy series, Mark Burnett Productions (MBP) became the exclusive producer of the Toughest Cowboy television series in May 2008. Toughest Cowboy is operated by Grit Rock Rodeo, a company jointly owned by AEG and Jac Sperling. This is the first venture undertaken as part of an overall partnership recently announced between AEG and MBP.
Mark Burnett, President of MBP said, "The American west and especially the American cowboy have been globally loved icons for decades. This series allows viewers to immerse themselves in the cowboy's world, where tough guys are truly tough. We will get to know these cowboys and their families, and can share their passion for the traditions of the west. After a heart stopping, edge of your seat competition, one cowboy will emerge as the toughest."
