Prototype Leica Lenses Bring Over $210,000 at Auction

Tamarkin Rare Camera Auction Publishes December Auction Results



    NEW HAVEN, CT, December 27, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stan Tamarkin's December rare camera auction set a world record for the sale of prototype lenses. Five lenses sold for a total of $210,917, including buyer's fee, and one lens, a 90mm Elcan f1, made by the E. Leitz GmbH affiliate in Canada, sold for a stupendous $101,000.

Other highlights of the auction were a calfskin covered Leica C that sold for over $65,000 and a rare Leica M4-2 Safari outfit that was hammered down for over. $39,000. Stan Tamarkin's next rare camera auction will be in the spring of 2014. Consignments are now being accepted.
