SACRAMENTO, CA, October 22th, 2012 /Worldwide Who's Who/
-- R. Brian Kidney has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in legislative affairs.
Mr. Kidney came to work in politics in 1963 as a runner, bringing paperwork back and forth to offices in the California state capitol. He quickly climbed the corporate ladder, ending his 28-year career as a Chief Clerk in 1981. After retiring and spending four years in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Kidney was called on to consult on legislative affairs to parliaments for emerging democracies. The Washington National Democratic Institute for International Affairs asked him to help form a democracy in Budapest. In 1983, he was invited back to help refine parliament rules. He eventually moved on to Malawi after the country gained independence from the British, and other countries, including Namibia and South Africa. His goal was always to help these nations set up committees and departments and refine their governments. Now retired, Mr. Kidney serves as a parliamentarian to the board of directors of The Renaissance Society of Sacramento, a participatory center for learning in retirement or lifelong learning. As an expert in parliament procedures and rules of the house, he is focused and interested in the democratization of the world. Having achieved years of success, he particularly highlights his tenure as a chief clerk in the California State Assembly, where he launched a successful, paid internship program to provide the legislature with an annual pool of highly trained and vetted intern alumni.
Mr. Kidney works with the Rotary Club of Sacramento in his spare time. Highly educated with a bachelor's degree in Russian studies from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in government studies from the University of San Francisco, he spends his free time attending wine tastings and participating in The Brotherhood of the Knights of the Vine of America and the California Wine Society.
