-- Raymond White, Chief Executive Officer for The Watson Institute, has been recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in special education administration.
For the past 95 years, The Watson Institute has served the educational community as a pillar of excellence, strength, and hope for special needs students. The education facility provides special education to people ages three to 21, who have been diagnosed with emotional challenges, cerebral palsy, neurological impairment, autism, spectrum disorders, and brain injuries. As chief executive officer for the organization, Mr. White has been quoted as saying, "Ensuring that we provide best practices to all of the children we serve and then sharing that expertise with professionals and pre-professionals is, in short, the Watson Difference."
Mr. White holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from West Virginia University and, has completed coursework in marketing management through Columbia Business School at Columbia University. He also holds a certification through The College of Insurance from the Insurance Society of New York. Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. White has become an expert in financial management and strategic methodology.
Recognized for years of invaluable contributions to the education industry, Mr. White has garnered several awards. In 2005, he was inducted into Worldwide Branding. Since then, he was selected as a Professional of the Year for the next four consecutive years. Mr. White has also been named an Outstanding VIP member and chosen as an Expert Resource. His career and accomplishments have been highlighted on the Elite American website, in Pro-Files magazine, and for the Elite Radio Network. Mr. White's organization, The Watson Institute, was selected from the western region of Pennsylvania to comprise the Autism Service, Education, Research and Training (ASERT) Center by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Health, which is coordinated by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Mr. White's community involvement has included service as president of the following boards: Craig House (now Friendship Academy), the Pittsburgh Philharmonic, the Pittsburgh chapter of West Virginia University Alumni, and Allegheny Country Club. He has also served as board member of Ursuline Center, the Pittsburgh Boys Club, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the Boyd Community Center and Library. Mr. White previously served as the Chair of the Dean's Visiting Committee of the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics and their Strategic Planning committee. He continues to serve as a member of both those committees and is an adjunct faculty member at WVU. Mr. White also served as Senior Warden of the Vestry of Calvary Episcopal Church in the Shadyside neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh where he has been a member since 1984.
Away from the demands of his work, Mr. White enjoys golfing, traveling, reading such periodicals as Business Week, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal, and spending time with his family. He is married to his lovely wife Cherry and has four wonderful children named Drew, Chris, Holly, and Fraser.
