"With ComScore reporting that 50% of the US population over 15 visits a social network every month, it is imperative that marketers know which network their customers and prospects use," says Anthony Power, Co-founder of Recipe 31. "Developing appropriate social media strategies rests on understanding whether you have a Facebook or LinkedIn audience because the millions of conversations about brands are going to be very different." The product bridges the gap by helping marketers to understand the social network landscape and provide the data needed to develop executable marketing strategies to reach their customers.

The new product, the Social Network Footprint, is a complete social network profile of 10,000 of a client's customers. The footprint first answers the question, "Are my customers on social networks? " by identifying the specific social networks that a client's customers participate in. Marketers can use this data to focus their efforts on the relevant social networks where their customers are active.

Once the social networks have been identified, the social network footprint overlays the customer's demographic data. This allows marketers understand how their customers vary by social network and allows them to segment their customers into groups based upon their social behavior. It also provides insight into a customer's reason for participating in the social networks and allows a marketer to develop strategies that better meet their customer's needs. This data is then compared against a benchmark which gives insight into how the customers differ from the average.

The Social Network Footprint bridges the knowledge and conversation gab between companies and their customers. This new tool provides a starting point for companies to enter social media and social network marketing. It helps companies to leverage conversations across social networks and develop strategies to reach potential customers who share common interests with current customers.
