Repairing California: 400+ Citizens Attend Town Hall about Constitution Convention
California is broken, but the people can fix it. Last night, Full Circle Fund, Bay Area Council, and Repair California presented a special community event discussing the opportunities around a California Constitutional Convention.

    SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Featuring a panel cross-sector leaders, this event was San Francisco's first major opportunity to learn more and ask questions about this powerful method to reform the golden state's tarnished politics. Over 400 Californians came to learn more about the process that could profoundly affect California for generations to come.

SPEAKERS INCLUDED:

Jim Wunderman serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Bay Area Council, a business-backed public policy organization in the San Francisco-Oakland-Silicon Valley Bay Area. Led by its CEO members, the Bay Area Council is the strong, united voice of more than 275 of the largest Bay Area employers, representing more than 500,000 workers, or one of every six private sector employees. Since becoming CEO in 2004, Wunderman has led the 64-year-old public policy organization to become one of the most influential, effective institutions of its kind.

Jeff Camp chairs the Education Circle of Full Circle Fund, a Bay Area volunteer organization that forms skilled project teams to help organizations turn their ideas into results for children. Under Camp's leadership, Full Circle Fund has supported innovative education-related projects in organizations such as the New Teacher Center, the Parent Institute for Quality Education, Leadership Public Schools, Oakland Unified School District and the California Teachers Association. Camp also chairs the Advisory Committee of the Alt Comp Dialogue, a Full Circle Fund-sponsored project to promote local labor-management discussion of how to use alternative compensation approaches to increase schools' effectiveness in educating children. In 2005, Jeff was appointed to the Governor's Advisory Committee on Excellence in Education.

In an age of specialization, Andrew G. Giacomini stands out as a versatile legal and business counselor with a broad range of skills and expertise. Giacomini acts as general counsel to clients in a wide array of complex business transactions in the areas of real estate, construction, business formation, and financing. He is also an experienced trial attorney, whose litigation practice includes commercial disputes, real estate, and construction disputes. Giacomini brings his litigation experience and instincts to the table in transactional matters and the knowledge and insight of his business expertise to the litigation arena. Giacomini earned his J.D., from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and his B.A., from San Francisco State University.

Steven Hill is Director of the Political Reform Program at the New America Foundation, which seeks to identify and develop the best opportunities for political and electoral reform, educate opinion leaders and the public about electoral alternatives, and encourage the formation of a broad-based coalition for reform. Mr. Hill is author of 10 Steps to Repair American Democracy and his previous books include Fixing Elections: The Failure of America's Winner Take All Politics and Whose Vote Counts.
