HAMMONDSPORT, NY, November 11, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert L. Phifer, Certified Nursing Assistant & Personal Care Attendant for Sibley Nursing Personnel Service, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in patient care and counseling.

Mr. Phifer's expertise lies in substance abuse counseling. For the last two years, he has been working through Sibley Nursing Personnel Service, a temporary staffing agency that places nurses and home healthcare professionals. As a CNA and personal care attendant, he assists patients with traumatic brain injuries and Alzheimer's disease, and counsels drug and alcohol addicts. A recovered alcoholic himself, Mr. Phifer finds deep personal fulfillment in using his experiences to help others overcome their own struggles. He attributes his success to his compassion for people and the support that he receives from those around him.

Prior to devoting his career to healthcare, Mr. Phifer served in the U.S. Army for 19 years. Proud to return to school after a hiatus of 30 years, he is pursuing his Associate Degree at Corning Community College and is completing an internship in Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counseling. He is a Certified Nursing Assistant, a Certified Personal Care Attendant, and a Certified Home Health Aide. He also holds a certification in Health Care Staffing Services.

Mr. Phifer currently serves as the vice president of Human Services Society, Corning and is a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. In his spare time, he tutors students in a local college, volunteers with Alcoholics Anonymous, and participates in leisure activities at nursing homes. His goals for the next five years include continuing in addiction counseling, running a national detox center for veterans, and playing a major role in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.
