SACRAMENTO, CA, May 17, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Robert M. Benjaminson, Air Quality Engineer II of the Bureau of Automotive Repair for the State of California, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in air quality control.

The average human takes sixteen breaths pers minute, making Mr. Benjaminson's job as an air quality engineer for the State of California's Bureau of Automotive Repair invaluable — he ensures that the air we breathe is clean. With expertise in exhaust gas analysis technology, he has spent most of his time in instrumentation, having started as a designer in the private sector and then moving on to specifying and testing gas analyzer performance for the state government.

During his 38-year career, Mr. Benjaminson successfully saved one of his employers 35 percent of an analyzer's production costs while improving its performance; he later devised a means for the state to recoup some of its approval testing costs, accomplishments he names to be the highlights of his career. In addition to his work with the State of California, he is the chief executive officer of Vehicular-Smogless Air For Ethiopia, V-SAFE for short, a nonprofit organization established in 2009 by a trio of engineers with the goal of alleviating vehicle-related pollution in Ethiopia's major cities. He recently made his first trip to the capital Addis Ababa, where he led studies on vehicle emissions to determine just how badly cars were polluting the air.

A member of SAE International and the American Chemical Society, Mr. Benjaminson earned a master's degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Northeastern University. When he finds time to himself, he enjoys photography, music, and reading. He also likes to drive sports cars — all of them non-polluting, of course.
