/Cambridge Who's Who/ - Belleville, NJ, July 13, 2008, Rosa Ramos, Federal Program Administrator for the Newark, New Jersey Public Schools and Consultant for the Plainfield Public School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education.

With 30 years of experience as an educator, Ms. Ramos has been in her current position of consultant at the Plainfield Public School District for four years. Throughout her career, she has cultivated an expertise in writing competitive and entitlement grants for federal programs. As a federal program administrator and consultant, she is responsible for writing grants and organizing programs related to the No Child Left Behind Act. Prior to joining the Plainfield Public School District, Ms. Ramos was a bilingual teacher for fourth and fifth grades at the Newark Public Schools, from which she moved to become a resource teacher at Barringer High School. After more than 26 years with the Newark Public Schools, she retired and was asked to consult for the Plainfield Board of Education.

Born in Cuba, Ms. Ramos was one of the thousands of children involved in Operation Peter Pan in 1962, the biggest exodus of children from Cuba. She lived in a refugee camp for one year with her little brother. Originally speaking no English, she is very proud of what she has accomplished. She was the first Hispanic female director of the Title I program in Newark, and during her time in that position, became director of the Staff Development Academy. Ms. Ramos hopes to continue consulting, teaching, training new teachers and developing programs for the Plainfield Board of Education. She keeps current with the trends in education by reading and attending conferences, and believes that the biggest issue facing education is the quality of teaching and training. According to Ms. Ramos, it is crucial that the teachers believe that children can learn, and should therefore set high expectations of their students.

Ms. Ramos received both her Master of Education in Bilingual Education and Administration and Supervision from Seton Hall University and her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Montclair State University. She attributes her success to her passion for her profession and the support she receives from her family.

An expert in bilingual education and federal programs, Ms. Ramos is available to speak with the media and may be reached via email at rreynaramos@aol.com.
