The Sam Maguire Cup one of the world's most recognisable sports trophies recently paid a visit to SoftCo sponsored Trojan Swimming Club as part of the Sam Maguire Trophy tour.
DUBLIN, IRELAND, October 25, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The trophy is named after Sam Maguire who joined and captained the successful London Hibernians Gaelic football team to several All-Ireland finals between 1900 and 1904. He later became a trustee of Croke Park. The Sam Maguire Cup was designed and presented to the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928 in his honour after his death in 1927.
Members of the victorious Dublin GAA team who were crowned All-Ireland football champions for the second time in three years following a 2-12 to 1-14 win over Mayo also visited the club. The excited fans met with the county's heroes and took turns getting their picture taken with the prestigious Sam Maguire cup.
Trojan is a competitive swimming club with a proud history of swimming achievement over the last 30+ years, including a strong history of Olympic participation and current club members holding several national records.
