PHILADELPHIA, PA, August 24, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/
-- Sam Mustafa, Charleston
entrepreneur, has paid close attention to the economic recovery and the many trends that have taken shape as the United States has healed from the recession. CEO of Charleston Hospitality Group, he is particularly interested in how the restaurant industry is faring--and in the trends that are shaping the sales that take place within this field. According to Nation's Restaurant News
, an increase in consumer optimism may indicate that sales will again rise after a decline this past month.
The article explains: "Restaurant same-store sales decreased 0.9 percent in July, continuing to fall from flat sales in June and a 0.8-increase in May [...] However, consumer outlook has improved despite falling sales. Consumer Edge Report, a partner company to People Report and Black Box Intelligence, released the Restaurant Willingness to Spend Index last week with a value of 93 for July, which is a marked increase over the index score of 85 reported in June and the highest score observed in 2013."
Restaurants across the country faced a marked decline when the economy fell because eating out is, largely, considered a luxury rather than a need. To save money, individuals across the nation opted to cook instead of enjoy the meals provided by the country's millions of restaurants. Over the years, though, the industry has begun to once again thrive as consumers have not only personally recovered from their financial hardships but also regained their trust in the economy as a whole. For this reason, many individuals turn to the restaurant industry as an indicator for the overall health of the economy and to measure consumer attitudes toward its strength and stability.
Sam Mustafa, Charleston entrepreneur, comments: "I am happy to see that consumer optimism is improving. Ultimately, people are not going to go out to eat if they are not optimistic about the economic environment. In addition to this overarching benefit of this trend we also have the fact that improved optimism often leads to increased sales, and we are hoping to see sales rise during the next month."
