Scott Salisbury Richards Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Marine Engineering and Safety

    Austin, Texas, USA, February 18, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scott Salisbury Richards, President of S.S. Richards & Associates LLC, with 36 years of experience in the marine field, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in marine engineering and safety management.

Mr. Richards' career started with the design of fishing vessels, moved to the Trident submarine project and includes a wide range of disciplines in the oil industry over the past 32 years. He worked overseas for the Saudi Arabian Oil Company for over 20 years, where he supervised the design and construction of four of the largest (at the time 70 ton bollard) Docking Tugs in the world, responded to and led investigations of marine and industrial incidents, and directed the development and implementation of safety management systems, which improved safety performance in the marine fleet of over 160 vessels and other departments in the company. During the 1980s he worked for Zapata Offshore Company as a naval architect, trouble shooting emergencies in their fleet of 24 rigs and specializing in international regulatory compliance. In the late 1980's and early 1990's he evaluated marine cases for a law firm in Houston and was deposed as an expert, contributing to a successful outcome for the litigation.

Mr. Richards received a Bachelor of Science in naval architecture and marine engineering from Webb Institute, he is a registered professional engineer (PE) in Georgia and Texas, a safety professional certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (CSP) and an Oil Company International Marine Forum (OCIMF) certified offshore vessel inspector (OVID). He has Patent Pending on a safety device that he is developing for commercial applications. He has served on the board of the Texas Chapter of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) and as a vestry member of his local church.
