GARY, ID, December 12, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Creating buzz and awareness in the portable restroom industry is no easy task. Service Sanitation, Inc. (SSI) created a unique display this holiday season to grab the attention of the community in an entertaining way. That unique display came in the form of lights, cameras, and portable restrooms set to holiday music.

Preparations for this project began in early October with the design and the technical requirements necessary to create the light show. Nearly 50 restrooms were equipped with individual LED lights and a computer program synced the lights to the beat of the music.

SSI's in-house marketing lead, Steve Dykstra, originally developed this idea, utilizing his previous experience with up lighting to bring the idea to fruition. "Mastering the lighting software was probably the most difficult task" said Dykstra, team leader of this project. "I put in about eight straight days of continuously playing the music track over and over to get it synced just right. Thankfully, my co-workers were pretty forgiving for having to listen to Christmas music in mid-October."

The video was shot on Nov. 18 on site at SSI. SSI's yard crew worked diligently to ensure each restroom was placed according to plan. SSI also filmed a "Behind-the-Scenes" video to show how the lighting display was created. The videos were released Nov. 27. "It was a strategic decision to release the day before Thanksgiving because we hoped that family and friends might share our video with others at their family gatherings," said Chad Harris, Director of Logistics.

Once released, the clip spread quickly. At one point, the video was averaging 175 views per hour. "Our entire company put forth effort to share this video - our drivers and our office personnel. We wanted everyone to participate, to build company morale and share in the success of taking what was once just a unique idea and actually bringing it to life," said Natalie Litera Jones, Director of Operations.

Less than one week later, SSI's holiday lights display video has over 4,000 views on YouTube. It has been featured on WGN Morning News and several media companies have contacted SSI requesting the rights to use the video.
