GREENVILLE, NC, October 13, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ --Sharon J. Elliott, Occupational Therapist for Therapeutic Life Center, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in senior care.
With over 20 years of experience in healthcare, Ms. Elliott is recognized as an expert in gerontology. She assumed her current position at Therapeutic Life Center in 1999. Her responsibilities include working with the elderly on fall prevention and balance training, improving function and independence of adults, and collaborating with the Pitt County Council on Aging on programs for older adults. In addition to her work as an occupational therapist, Ms. Elliott has over 10 years experience teaching occupational therapy. She considers helping people on a daily basis to be the most rewarding aspect of what she does. She attributes her success to her diligence, perseverance, and eagerness to learn new things.
Ms. Elliott is Board Certified in Gerontology from the American Occupational Therapy Association. Ms. Elliott is pursuing her graduate certificate in gerontology and her Doctorate in Health Science, with a concentration in Occupational Therapy, at the University of Indianapolis. She received her Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from East Carolina University, her Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from Kean University, and her Associate of Applied Science Degree in Occupational Therapy Assisting from Union College.
Ms. Elliott sits as chairwoman of the American Occupational Therapy Association Gerontology Special Interest Section. She is also a fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association, which has honored her with an award for excellence and leadership in gerontology. She looks forward to increasing her involvement in publishing, public speaking, and research.
