The Ticket to Work program is an employment program for those with disabilities who are interested in actively participating in the workforce. The goal of the program is to offer individuals receiving disability benefits a variety of choices when seeking assistance to enter, reenter or maintain employment. The program also aims to increase the financial self-sufficiency of recipients with disabilities, reducing one's dependence on benefits.
Who is eligible for the Ticket to Work program?
Individuals ages 18 through 64 who receive Social Security Disability Insurance or Supplemental Security Income benefits are eligible to participate in the program.
Participation in the program
To participate, a benefits recipient must make an agreement with an employment network or state vocational rehabilitation agency. While participating in the program, one can safely explore work opportunities without losing disability benefits. Participants can also utilize a combination of work incentives to increase their income. Ultimately, the program aids disabled persons in better supporting themselves.
