Susan Armstrong is the Vice President and Head of Global Business Continuity at State Street Global Advisors, the asset management business of State Street Corporation, one of the world's leading providers of financial services to institutional investors. Based in Boston, Mass. Ms. Armstrong in her leadership role is responsible for establishing and maintaining a Business Continuity Program which provides a governance and strategy model that ensures the business has multiple recovery strategies in place that are effective and executable. She oversees compliance to standards for the Asian, European and North American operations. Ms. Armstrong also advises internal resources on developing and applying appropriate strategies for ensuring business continuance during planned or unplanned events. In addition, Ms. Armstrong implements training programs across all regional offices for all levels of staff, thus enabling effective life safety awareness and command and control during large scale events. Ms. Armstrong is responsible for the hiring of the business continuity team and recommendations back to the business of roles and responsibilities for increased accountability across the business.
Ms. Armstrong received an Associate Degree in Executive Administration from Mount Wachusett Community College, and is a Certified Business Continuity Planner through the Disaster Recovery Institute International. A member of the Association of Continuity Planners, Ms. Armstrong has more than 17 years of experience in the financial services field.
Prior to her current position with State Street Global Advisors, Ms. Armstrong filled a number of key positions with leading financial service providers, including serving as Director at The First Marblehead Corporation and Manager of Business Continuity and Record Management at Sun Life Financial. When Ms. Armstrong is away from the office, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, gardening and reading.
