This award for the most innovative new product in the Outboard Engines category was voted on by a panel of esteemed marine journalists and presented by Zuzana Prochazka, President of Boating Writers International (BWI) Board of Directors during the 70th annual Miami International Boat Show.
This marks an unprecedented sixth time Suzuki Marine has received the coveted NMMA Innovation Award, with the company's industry-leading line up of fuel-injected 4-Stroke outboards receiving five of its six awards. Suzuki has designed and engineered these all-new-for-2011 DF40A and DF50A in-line DOHC 3 cylinder outboards from a clean sheet of paper. They've got 15% more displacement and, and at just 229 pounds, are 5% lighter than their predecessors. The DF40A and DF50A are the only engines in this class to incorporate DOHC (Dual Overhead Cams), Maintenance Free Timing Chain, Easy Start System and Electronic Fuel Injection with Lean Burn Control System. (Suzuki's Lean Burn Control System is an intelligent system that monitors engine performance and operating conditions to predict and deliver maximum fuel efficiency. This innovative induction system achieves a 23% improvement in fuel consumption, while at the same time delivering a 6% increase in top speed, and a 25% quicker acceleration time over previous models.)
