SAN DIEGO, CA, September 11, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Testosterone therapy offers a new ray of hope for obese patients looking for effective weight reduction, according to a recently completed five-year study conducted by researchers in Germany. Doctors at ENERGENEX (http://energenex.com), a Low T treatment clinic in San Diego, say weight reduction appears to be one of the many positive outcomes of male hormone replacement therapy.

"Weight loss is certainly one of the positive outcomes I have seen at my practice," says John T. Alexander, II M.D., J.D., F.A.C.S., whose ENERGENEX clinic offers effective Low T treatment for San Diego men who want to restore their hormones to more youthful levels. "I'm glad to see this outcome validated in the recent multi-year study."

According to the study, obese men receiving testosterone therapy for low hormone levels lost an average of 35 pounds each, with their body mass index dropping from 34 to 29. The study also found that many patients reported improved cholesterol and triglyceride levels. The therapy helped lower blood pressure.

"The results are impressive and the conclusion is optimistic," adds Dr. Alexander. "The study offers some insight that we can apply to our clinical practice, and should help to convince more men that the time is right for testosterone therapy."

The research study followed 116 men, 70 percent of whom were obese at the beginning of the therapy. These men received quarterly testosterone shots for five years and at the end of the study, 97 percent showed a reduction in waist circumference, and most participants moved from obese to the overweight category. Moreover, no increase in the risk of prostate cancer was reported in the patients.

Doctors at ENERGENEX, offering testosterone therapy in San Diego, are happy with the results of the preliminary study, since they have seen positive outcomes in patients struggling with their obesity for many years. Though low testosterone is linked to obesity, research is ongoing to establish a positive link between weight loss and testosterone therapy.

"Normalizing the testosterone levels in study patients might have raised energy levels, leading to increased physical activity and weight loss," notes Dr. Alexander. "It's important to keep in mind that Low T treatment can address multi-faceted needs and bring the body back in proper balance to increase energy, sex drive, and muscle mass."

ENERGENEX also specializes in a weight loss program that focuses on dietary changes that can be permanently incorporated into an individual's lifestyle. The program primarily focuses on building a faster metabolism.

Serving men throughout the San Diego area, ENERGENEX (http://www.energenex.com/) is a system of health treatments designed to reverse the hormonal ravages of male aging, including andropause, fatigue, weight loss, and a general lessening in quality of life. By addressing diet and lifestyle while restoring hormones to more youthful levels via bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), their medical team helps patients feel younger and healthier.
