NEW YORK, NY, August 31, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As summer wanes, the East Coast is prepping for the undisputed king of food and beverage, bar and restaurant industry gatherings: RDP Group's 2013 Holiday Buying Show. With over 400 vendors scheduled to attend, 2013's event is set to be the most expansive yet. This year's gathering takes place September 9th and 10th at New York City's Jacob J. Javits Convention Center with a preview event on September 8.---
For a mere $40 entry fee through August 30 (for show floor only), this year's guests can sample a VERY extensive selection of beverages both alcoholic and non alcoholic, domestic and imported including Balls Vodka; Cayrum, a premium rum infused with natural honey and ginger; Kiss Mix Drinks premium pre mixed cocktails (Gin and Tonic, Cosmopolitan, Lemon Drop, Margarita and Screwdriver); Legs Diamond Rye whiskey; Mahia (a Moroccan style spirit distilled from 100% California figs; the Teaologist's ready-to-pour tea mixer, Owl's Brew; Wild Hibiscus Flower Company; and distributor MHW's nearly two dozen brands including Soyombo Super Premium Mongolian Vodka, Sweden's Rekorderlig Cider, Barbados' Cockspur Rum, and France's XB Sex on the Beach. For a complete list of exhibitors visit http://holidaybarbuyingshow.com/exhibitor-list .
In addition, over a hundred new craft and artisan brands will be on display for sampling. Their pronounced presence on the floor this year can be attributed in large part to newly relaxed regulations on distilleries in New York and New Jersey. In New York, the state relaxed craft distilling regulations in the spring and New Jersey followed suit earlier this month when Gov. Chris Christie signed a law cutting license fees by 90% for craft distillers.
"A craft distillery license brings the manufacturing and distribution options available to New Jersey spirits makers on par with those enjoyed by New Jersey craft beer and wine makers," said legislation co-sponsor Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-Trenton). "Hand-crafting and small batch production has helped New Jersey make a name for itself in the beer and wine markets; and it's high time we did the same for distillers."
The 2013 Holiday Buying Show's draw extends far beyond the drinking aspect. The show also showcases also products ranging from barware to legal services; including: Ali Group's Beverage-Air, CMA Dishmachines and Electro Freeze (they'll be serving frozen treats); Bormioli Luigi Italian bottle manufacturers; CoolNerd Kiosks, which run digital signage ads while offering download shopping of movies and music in a kiosk; NEAT (the official spirits tasting glass at the NY World Spirits Competition); Remember Forever photo workshops; and Swipely Payment Systems.
There's also an array of NINETEEN seminars (please note that seminars are not included in the show's $40 admission.) Experts from all around the world from the food, beverage, and marketing industries will conduct courses that are equal parts educational and entertaining. For information about seminars and pricing, visit http://holidaybarbuyingshow.com/attendee-registration
The show also brings guests the annual New York World Wine and Spirits Competition. The contest sees foremost experts from the world of wine and spirits judging a wide spectrum of grade-A beverage products, many of which are featured on the convention floor. The competition's lineup of 18 judges (headed by lauded author and spirits aficionado Anthony Dias Blue) is comprised of some of the leading experts from the bar and restaurant industry, among them, for wine: Kevin Vogt, The Wine & Spirits Director at Emeril's Las Vegas; mixologist Zahra Bates of Cole's Red Car Bar in Los Angeles; mixologist Jason LIttrell of the Jbird Lounge New York, and Anthony Lerner, Wine Director at Comme Ca Los Angeles; spirits judges include author Rosina Wilson; Charles Mara, President of the Mara Wine Group; TV's "Wine Gal and Countess of Cocktails" Ziggy Eschliman from Santa Rosa; and Sarah Ford, Beverage Manager of L'Escale in Greenwich, CT.
As if there couldn't be any more going on at this year's show, there will also be no shortage of parties, networking opportunities, drink-making demos, and specialty vendors. Show guests will be able to schmooze and learn from leagues of like-minded professionals, experts, and mixologists from every corner of the hospitality industry.
Says Wesler, "Some folks will be coming to the 2013 Holiday Buying Show to enjoy top shelf alcohol and have fun while others will be there to brush up on the latest industry trends. Most of our attendees will be doing both! That's what the Holiday Buying Show is all about: having a ball, expanding your palate, and bettering your business. So much for a measly $40!"
