-- The Chef's Academy (http://www.thechefsacademy.com), the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 110-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 40 degree programs in five schools of study, has announced that the school will host its inaugural Chili Cook-off on Friday, Feb. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Teams of three students each will engage in a heated competition for the title of The Chef's Academy Chili Champion. Students will begin preparing their chili at 8:30 a.m. and the dishes will be ready for judging and public tasting beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tasting cups will be available for purchase for $2 and all proceeds will go toward a culinary student scholarship.
In conjunction with the Chili Cook-off, The Chef's Academy will welcome prospective students for a "New Student Preview Day" orientation. Those interested in pursuing a culinary career are invited to tour the institution's Morrisville campus, as well as meet with faculty and staff to discuss educational requirements and curricula for both the pastry and culinary arts programs. This will be one of two new student orientations and is open to anyone interested in enrolling at The Chef's Academy.
"We hope that the Chili Cook-off will add a little heat to the cold winter weather and serve as a chance for our students to showcase their cooking skills in a friendly competition," said Chef Jeffrey Bane, campus president and dean of culinary education for The Chef's Academy in Morrisville. "We invite the community to sample delicious varieties of a comfort food favorite and watch our students battle it out for the title of The Chef's Academy's Chili Champion."
